The Facility
Housed on the top floor of ideastream’s Idea Center at Playhouse Square, the school’s 36,000-square-foot facility has 24-foot studio ceilings, two 2,000+ square-foot sound stages, extensive natural light, and sweeping views of downtown Cleveland and Lake Erie. The studio was designed by VAA Architects and Bastien and Associates – Bastien’s prominent design and building projects include Manhattan Beach Studios and the Marion Knott Studios at Chapman University – and features state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, digital editing bays, and a vast inventory of professional production equipment.
The School of Film & Media Arts facility is located on CSU’s Arts Campus, which features more than 120,000-square-feet of studios, rehearsal space, classrooms and production shops with faculty from top local arts organizations, such as the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Situated in the heart of Playhouse Square, our nation’s largest performing arts center outside of New York City, the Arts Campus is also home to the Tony Award-winning Cleveland Playhouse, America’s only professional theatre company that includes an undergraduate learning environment. These are just a few of the reasons why Travel + Leisure included Cleveland among its 2015 list of “America’s Most Cultured Cities.”
